Honestly, I still can’t believe it’s already 2017 right now. For me, the year of 2016 means a lot of growing: launching this blog (sorry for sucking at keeping up with posting), finishing my Ph.D. thesis proposal, hunting for jobs…With so much happening, I hardly realized how fast the year had gone by until Christmas time.
Holiday season usually is the time to escape for us. This past month however, instead of travelling far, we spent the Christmas time in Atlanta (3.5 hours drive away) and the new year’s weekend at home, both of which, as you can imagine, turned out to be fuss free and completely relaxing.
Now that the shining new year is here, I thought I would share with you guys a few December monthly favorites as a proper farewell to the past 2016. As a bonus, some of the things might work as Valentine’s day gifts. Plus, there’s a giveaway going on at the end of this post, so don’t miss out!
1. JORD wooden watch (HERE)
Actually this is a Christmas gift for the hubby, then *repurposed* to be part of my outfits since it’s too pretty to pass and goes with everything in my wardrobe! If you haven’t heard of it yet, this brand does an incredible job in making timepieces with wooden straps. This one I picked has a champagne tone, complemented with striped Zebrawood. Firstly awed by how good the wood box packaging is, overall I have to admit this watch is like a hand crafted artwork, a bit raw and unflashy yet very much refined. I have tested it out with a blazer-and-velvet combo for a more sophisticated look and dressed it down with colorful sweaters, it worked seamlessly both ways.
Like I said earlier, V-day is around the corner, this wood watch could work as a perfect gift option for the significant other. Be sure to check out their men’s collection (HERE) and women’s line (HERE).
2. Dress by Genuine People (on sale, SIMILAR)
One of my most satisfied new-ins of lately, this formfitting knit piece features a dark green theme, livened up by the contrasting stripes in burgundy and yellow, with the asymmetrical collar adding to the fun. The best part is, roll it up and slip into some skinnies, you’ve got yourself a new sweater!
3. Coach Saddle bag (HERE)
Confession time, I’ve been overly obsessed with the shade of burgundy (or wine, or maroon, or whatever you call it) for the past few months. This saddle bag by Coach is the most recent add-on to my dark red squad. Lightweight and just the right size, this bag has a very soft texture in a muted tone. Going dressy or low-key, it suits 80% of the occasions.
4. Esym scent pod (HERE)
I fell for the minimal presentation of this product right away when I opened the package. The nuanced idea of this line is interesting too: a baby pod, filled with aroma essential oil, that fits into your pocket or purse perfectly. Parisian Morning, the scent I went with, has a lovely sweet note that evokes the memories of many bakeries whenever I smell it.
5. Mango velvet blazer (on sale, HERE)
One word, velvet. This Mango jacket in sky blue is a great statement piece for the wardrobe, which celebrates the most current trend without being too loud.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Stay chic in 2017!
