Now that summer is in full swing (or should I say, almost coming to an end?), I have found myself wearing skirts more and more. To me, they are the best options to make me feel comfortable all day long, and also versatile enough to be styled in a thousand ways.
When it comes to specific designs, there are numerous we could talk about: A-line, pencil, wrap, pleated, combining with multiple choices of lengths…While I’m not planning to get into details of all of them, there is one type of skirt that I am very much drawn to lately and I will focus on in today’s post – asymmetrical skirts. Simply put, these are the skirts with their hems cut in an asymmetrical, usually non-conventional shape.
Personally, I have been quite excited to see this trend swirling back during recent seasons, as they are easy to style, interesting to wear, and a lot of the time exceptionally flattering to different body shapes, as the cut usually strategically helps to create an elongated silhouette. These two skirts I am featuring in this post, are my latest additions to the asymmetrical collection of my wardrobe, very different but both beautiful in their own ways.
How about we start with this hot pink skirt with frilled hem (c/o ChickWish)? I know, you may cringe a little bit when you see or hear the words “hot pink”, but trust me, stepping out of your fashion comfort zone once in a while IS doable and even addictive! My advice on toning down an item that really stands out by itself, is to pair it with something that does not compete with the theme, something with almost no color, or to say, *neutrals*.
It is a straightforward rule to keep the palette of your look in a clean contrast while not too loud or messy at all. My pick for this pink skirt is a silky black blouse with cut out shoulder details. This item was a random purchase from H&M two years ago, and has been an absolute wardrobe staple for me ever since. I would say stocking up a few pieces in basic colors and special designs definitely helps you to step up your styling game.
The second outfit was built around a flowy floral midi skirt. This is a very delicate and romantic piece featuring a slightly form-fitting design, draping sides, and sheer panel at the bottom. I could see it beautifully complemented with a white off-the-shoulder top, if you need inspirations for a lovely summer look during weekends or date nights.
For this look however, I was in the mood to keep things less feminine and more effortless, which a simple white tee would do. That is why I chose this text tee (c/o & Other Stories) to dress down the skirt. Here I finished with the blocked heel sandals, but you could totally switch them to a pair of white sneakers and really create a casual, cool, vacation kind of vibe.

I love the sleek look and colors of the first outfit. I also love the flowy casual look of the second. I need both in my closet!
I love the hot pink one, the color is amazing. I have a blazer in that color that I’ve completely worn out! Beautiful photos by the way!
Such a cute skirt!!
Love the hot pink color and flirtiness of the first skirt! I need it!
Oh they are both such beautiful skirts! I love the cute ruffles and the hot pink of the first one – it’s a lovely cheerful colour! The second one is nice too but the pink one is definitely my favourite 🙂

So nice outfits! Love your pink skirt and bag!!! really great pictures you have
I love the second skirt! It’s like a flowier, prettier version of an a-line skirt. I just love the way it drapes and falls in that seated photo. I don’t think I’ve ever actually owned an asymmetrical skirt, but this seems like a good way to test the waters.
I love that last outfit. Everything about it is boho hippy and that is something that represents summer to me. The pink skirt is a lot of fun!
