Are there any types of trends that you find particularly speak to you? No matter how many pieces of that kind you already own, you find yourself drawn to the *same* thing over and over again. To me anything off-the-shoulder is definitely one of them. Could it be a top, a dress, a romper, simply name it, I just never get tired of it.
For the past year, I have featured many different off-the-shoulder pieces on the blog (here, here, and here) and even more on my Instagram. The fact that these items could really accentuate your shoulder and your collar bone, is obviously the main reason I’ve been so in love with it. That being said, when it comes to dressing for chillier days (like right now and a lot more ahead), off-the-shoulder usually is not your best friend – but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
A year ago, I shared a look of transitioning an OTS top from summer to fall, with the help of a couple more season appropriate pieces. And this time I thought I would create an outfit with an OTS item that IS a fall piece itself.
As you can see in these photos, this OTS top (thanks to Chicwish) on me is actually a sweater. With the camel color, the knit fabric and the long sleeves, this item is definitely a perfect fall piece. If you know me for a while, you probably know that I love to introduce a bit contrast into my outfits. That’s why I opted for these flared culottes to pair with the top. One thing to keep in mind when creating a balanced overall look is proportion. Since the sweater is form-fitting, I tucked it in the pants to keep the top part shorter and elongate the bottom.
Then, let’s talk about accessories. For a more casual and fun final look I paired with the sneakers I *designed* partnering with Shoes of Prey. You might remember my full review of this brand from a while back. Basically with Shoes of Prey you get to customize the very detailed specifics of your shoes and have the footwear that truly satisfies you. Like for these shoes, I was having quite some fun when creating them – seriously, combining colors (burgundy and navy) AND textures (embossed leather and velvet) of your choice in one pair of sneakers, how cool is that?!
Before we wrap this post up, Shoes of Prey is kindly offering a free custom inscription (valued $49) to my readers, simply put in the promo code “LoveFromRachel” to redeem when you place an order on their website. Have fun designing :).
