I know it’s already last minute, but better late than never, right?! The topic today is pretty simple, how to dress for July 4th. I still remember what I wore last year, (link for the blog post), when I shamelessly cheated with a button-down shirt in blue and white stripes decorated with red embroidery patches. The finish touch was my favorite bag in the same color theme. That look took me 1 minute to put together once I decided on the shirt. If you ask me, to have an item that fits right into the festival theme is a great short cut to a successful holiday outfit.
This year I am switching things up and showing you guys two outfits for the Independence day celebration. Unlike last year, while this time I still incorporate all three key colors of blue, red and white into both outfits, I tend to keep the colors blue and red separate to create visually cleaner looks. Now let’s get started!
The focal point of the first look was this ruched sleeve wrap top in very thin light blue stripes. To add the fun, this top can be worn as off the shoulder or like I was doing in this look, a one shoulder piece.
I completed the first outfit with a sleek white mini skirt and my summer staple – red sandals. This is a perfect ensemble for a date night or going out with friends. None of the items in this look is newly bought, all from last year. To me, it is always a good idea to stock up such pieces that can be translated into a specific theme, but still classic and versatile enough for everyday wear.
The next look combined some of my latest obsessions – if you follow me on Instagram, you probably have already seen them during the past weeks. The gingham top with cold shoulder style is one of my favorite finds lately. Details like the ruffles and bell sleeves really make the top ultra-feminine, while the mix and match of two different types of ginghams brings more of quirkiness and cuteness to it. I paired it with these gorgeous flared palazzo pants (great to wear to work), to elevate the entire look with a bit of understated sophistication.
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer holiday when you read this post. Again, happy July 4th and have fun styling!
